Location: Central Park North Woods

We came to the North Woods to do a photography focused hike, starting from the Conservatory in Central Park East all the way through the densely wooded areas of Central Park North, to capture nature and landscape images for our viewers. Our aim was to give potential visitors another glimpse into the many various offerings of this great city, outside of the expected skyscrapers, taxicabs, and crowds often associated with New York.
We also wanted to shine a spotlight on some of the more northern lying reaches of Central Park. Most visitors tend to gravitate to the southern regions of the park due to popular attractions such as the Zoo, the Delacorte Theater, Wollman Rink, the Loeb Boathouse, the Bethesda Fountain, and Strawberry Fields, all located south of 86th Street. Additionally, Central Park South's proximity to popular tourist areas such as 5th and Madison avenue shopping, as well as the iconic Columbus Circle and Time Warner Center, contribute to the heavy visitor traffic. With all of those delightful attractions in or near the southern tip of the park, the verdant and rolling expanses of the quieter and less populous sections of the northern tip, with its rich and often untamed vegetation, diverse fauna and many mountainous trails, present a very unique experience of Central park. The North Woods and the Conservatory Gardens offer some of the most scenic landscapes in New York City.
